Riemann Sum

A Riemann sum approximates the integral of a function by partitioning an interval into subintervals, choosing sample points $x_i$, and summing

$$\sum f(x_i)\Delta x$$

the integral is the limit of these sums as the partition becomes finer. That is $\Delta x\to 0$
