Norm of Equity

The Norm of Equity is a social and psychological principle that suggests individuals expect fairness in their interactions and relationships. It is based on the idea that people should receive outcomes proportional to their contributions, efforts, or inputs.

This is done in the context of an experiment between two monkeys where one got cucumbers for the same task as another who got grapes. The monkey who got cucumbers became upset, showing that the norm of equity was violated.

Another interesting thing to note is that whenever Norm of Equity is violated, the one who gets the short end of the stick gets upset, but the one who gets the advantage tries to justify it.
